H. Moser & Cie. is a trademark of Moser Schaffhausen AG, a Swiss luxury watch manufacturer. H. Moser & Cie. was originally founded by Heinrich Moser, an independent Swiss watchmaker in St. Petersburg. Russia in 1828, the first customers Famous names of H. Moser & Cie. include Russian princes and members of the Russian court; Vladimir Lenin also owned a Moser watch.
After Moser died in 1874, the company was split between managing directors. The Swiss part of Le Locle belongs to the Paul Girard family. Business in Russia was expropriated in 1918 due to the October Revolution. In 2002 Moser Schaffhausen AG was founded by Dr. Jürgen Lange together with Roger Nicholas Balsiger, grandson of Heinrich Moser. and the H. Moser & Cie. brand was officially relaunched in 2005.
Heinrich Moser (born December 12, 1805 in Schaffhausen) founded H. Moser & Co. in 1828 in St. Petersburg. He opened a watch factory in Le Locle the following year. Moser returned to Schaffhausen in 1848 and began industrializing the area over the next several decades. His wife, Charlotte, died in 1850, and Moser focused on his work ever since.
Moser designed and built the “Moser Dam” in Schaffhausen between 1863 and 1866, one of the first hydroelectric stations. This brought mechanical power to local watch factories. and established the city as a manufacturing center It remained in use until 1959. He was also influential in the creation of the Swiss railways. It established the second railway line in Switzerland. (between Schaffhausen and Winterthur) and founded a railway wagon manufacturing company. Another company, Moser, produced boats to transport goods on the Rhine River.
